My Approach

If you choose me to accompany you during this time, you can expect compassion and understanding, humor and directness when needed. At first I am very goal oriented in order to gain momentum. I have a wide range of experiences with different treatment modalities and I like to use them according to what each client needs. I tend to use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, as well as psychodynamic, existential, and feminist (or empowerment) therapies. In other words, I like to help my clients build meaningful coping skills that will last, address things from the past that may be holding them back, and start to build the future that they want. I am always trauma informed, person centered, and empowerment focused.

My expertise lies in treating mood disorders such as depression, bipolar and anxiety as well as trauma, relationship issues, and issues around sex, sexuality, and sexual health.

Sex positive, kink friendly, LGBTQIA+

Background

I was fortunate to know at a young age what career I wanted to pursue. After a life changing experience in therapy, I became passionate about helping others understand themselves better and feel confident in who they are. With this goal in mind, I went to the University of Georgia for my undergraduate where I double majored in Sociology and Gender Studies. In addition, I was very active in student organizations that advocated for sexual health.

Graduate school provided me the opportunity to gain a variety of experiences at non profits, community clinics, and hospitals. All of which contributed to my knowledge of our healthcare system and how it affects and functions in society as well as the individual.

After moving to Austin, I worked with foster youth experiencing complex and generational trauma while assisting in navigating available resources. I then worked on and designed inpatient and outpatient programs for trauma and women’s issues including trans women and non binary individuals. In addition to creating the program, I would also do group, family, and individual therapy.

It seems to me that the good life is not any fixed state. […] The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.

Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.
